Ege University is in the top 5 in Turkey

CWTS Leiden Ranking System, operating within Leiden University in the Netherlands, announced the ‘2024 World University Rankings’. Ege University achieved success by rising 11 ranks in Europe compared to the previous year, ranking 190th in Europe, 624th globally, 5th in Turkey, and 261st in Asia. In terms of field-based evaluation, Ege University became the 1st in Turkey and ranked 425th globally in the ‘Life and Earth Sciences’ field.

Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Budak, emphasizing Ege University’s continuous rise on the international stage, stated that in the Leiden 2024 World University Rankings which evaluate the scientific performance of universities worldwide, our research university, which is fully accredited, student-oriented, and awarded in research, continues its ascent. He believes that this success will contribute to our university, which has brought many distinguished practices to the academic world with the motto ‘Peaceful University, Quality Education, Bright Future’, being more visible on the international stage. He expressed his gratitude to the members who contributed to this prideful success. Ege University is one of the six higher education institutions in Turkey that are present in all 11 global rankings. Each ranking institution considers different fields and indicators. Leiden uses numerical data based on academic performance for evaluations. Seeing our scientific activities reflected in rankings and turned into success boosts our motivation. The disclosed data not only make us happy but also convey the message that we need to work even harder. We will continue to work with all our might together with our members to elevate our university to a better position, aiming to become a preferred and exemplary university not only in our country but also worldwide. We will continue to produce science in line with our country’s National Technology Move Vision, Turkey Century ideal, and 12th Development Plan goals to strengthen the power of the Ege University brand. We will work harder to make the second century of the Republic the Turkish century of science, and progress confidently towards becoming a branded university on the international stage.

Ranks 190th in Europe
In the Leiden 2024 World University Rankings, Ege University ranked 624th globally and 5th in Turkey. Rising 11 ranks to 190th among European universities compared to the previous ranking, Ege University also succeeded in ranking 261st among Asian universities.

1st in Life and Earth Sciences in Turkey
In field-based evaluations; in the ‘Life and Earth Sciences’ field, Ege University ranked 425th globally and 1st in Turkey; in the ‘Biomedical and Health Sciences’ field, it rose 3 ranks to 457th globally and ranked 5th in Turkey; in the ‘Physics and Engineering’ field, it ranked 748th globally and 7th in Turkey; and in the ‘Mathematics and Computer Sciences’ field, it rose 36 ranks to 819th globally and ranked 12th in Turkey.
