ADASO President Kıvanç: ‘Exports decreased by 16.5 percent in June compared to the previous year’s June’
Chairman of the Board of Directors of Adana Chamber of Industry, Zeki Kıvanç, stated that Adana’s exports decreased by 16.5% to 186.4 million dollars in the June period of 2024 compared to the same period of the previous year. Kıvanç mentioned that Adana’s exports for the period of January-June 2024 reached 1.2 billion dollars, with a decrease of 10.4% compared to the same period last year. He emphasized the importance of taking effective steps to increase exports and strengthen the economy.

Chairman of the Board of Adana Chamber of Industry, Zeki Kıvanç, stated that Adana’s exports in the June 2024 period decreased by 16.5% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 186.4 million dollars. Kıvanç expressed that in the January-June 2024 period, Adana’s exports increased by 3.3% compared to the same period of 2023, reaching 1.441 billion dollars.
Kıvanç evaluated the 16.5% decrease in exports in June 2024, attributing it to the approximately 10-day Eid al-Adha holiday. Chairman Kıvanç stated that in June 2024, the sector with the highest export from Adana was the Textile and Raw Materials sector with 36.4 million dollars, followed by the Chemicals and Chemical Products sector with 28.3 million dollars, and the Cereals, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products sector with 24.9 million dollars.
Chairman Kıvanç pointed out that in the first half of 2024, the Textile and Raw Materials sector ranked first with 249 million dollars, followed by the Chemicals and Chemical Products with 239.2 million dollars, and the Cereals, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products with 195.5 million dollars.
President Kıvanç stated that the top three countries with the highest exports from Adana in June 2024 were the USA with 17.4 million dollars, Iraq with 16.2 million dollars, and Spain with 13.2 million dollars. He added that in the first 6 months of 2024, Iraq took the lead with 132.3 million dollars in exports from Adana, followed by the USA with 102.2 million dollars, and Spain with 94.1 million dollars.
Chairman Zeki Kıvanç of Adana Chamber of Industry emphasized their goal of increasing their share in exports, stating, “Adana stands out with its increasing strategic importance in 2024. Although these positive developments in exports make us happy, we are aware that we need to make more efforts to achieve our goals. Our city has the potential and opportunities to contribute more to the development of the Turkish economy with new investment areas and expanding production capacity.
