While the thermometers in Diyarbakır showed 45 degrees, the historical sites and streets of the city fell silent due to the increasing temperatures. In Diyarbakır, car thermometers indicated 45 degrees. While the historical sites in the central Sur district are usually crowded on normal days, the streets fell silent due to the rising temperatures. Some citizens in the city protect themselves from the hot weather in shaded areas, while others prefer to stay at home and not go out. Children who are feeling hot try to cool off by entering the historical Anzele Water in the Sur district without caring about the danger. Suphi Önal, who came to the city from Bursa with his family for a visit, said that despite the scorching heat, they preferred to visit and see the historical sites. Expressing that he came to Diyarbakır for the first time, Önal said, ‘I am coming from Bursa, I am retired. It is my first visit to Diyarbakır. I came to visit my parents who live at Lake Hazar. Then I wanted to visit Diyarbakır. The weather is hot, but it is a city with historical significance and places to be visited. The heat does not prevent those who want to explore. Diyarbakır is a city that must be seen whether it’s cool or hot. The heat in Bursa is suffocating, Diyarbakır is hotter than there.’ Muhammed Okçu, who entered the historical Anzele Water with his friends to cool off, stated: ‘We came here to cool off and everyone comes here. Anzele’s water is very cold and nice. The weather is very hot in Diyarbakır. When we want to cool off, we come to Anzele.’
