Russian tourists showed great interest in the celebrations of Cabotage Day held in the district of Amasra in Bartın, creating colorful scenes during the festivities. The Cabotage Day celebrations, which are held every year on July 1st in the district of Amasra in Bartın, took place this year on July 3rd when the Astoria Grande ship carrying Russian tourists arrived at Amasra Port. Delayed by 2 days, the celebrations included competitions such as oil wrestling, tug of war, egg and spoon race, sack race, swimming, and canoeing. Various prizes such as quarter and half gold coins, money were awarded to the winners in competitions held separately for children, women, men, and adults. Spectators experienced great excitement watching the colorful competitions, while the participants competed fiercely with each other.
Completing the race by walking on water. Participants in the swimming competition in the women’s and men’s categories exerted great effort to win. Breathless participants, due to extreme fatigue, completed the final part of the race by walking. Despite their exhaustion, the participants who walked ashore did not give up and completed the race.
Facing difficulties due to excessive oil. In the greasy pole competitions, when the grease applied to the pole was a bit excessive, the participants experienced challenging moments. As the participants were unable to reach the flag at the end of the pole and fell into the sea, the excess oil on the pole was cleaned in the middle of the competition. The excitement in the competition increased even more after the reduction of the oil.
Russian tourists also showed great interest. The Astoria Grande ship, making its first voyage this month, docked at Amasra Port in the morning with 995 passengers and 432 crew members. Russian tourists on board watched the activities with interest at Amasra Public Beach in Buyuk Liman, where they came to swim. The Russian tourists, having fun at the events, enjoyed the magnificent nature, sun, beach, and sea of Amasra.
The celebrations concluded with canoe races. The winners were awarded by the Mayor of Amasra, Recai Çakır, and the district protocol. Providing information about the events, Mayor of Amasra Recai Çakır said, ‘One reason for holding the celebrations on July 3rd was the presence of the Astoria Grande ship carrying Russian tourists in our district today. Russian guests are important to us. Also, we wanted our Russian guests to be with us on this national holiday, which is important and meaningful for us in the seas. Various competitions were organized, and we had very exciting and beautiful moments.’
