A press release regarding the inflation rates announced by TUIK was organized by Retired Civil Servants Union (Emekli Memur-Sen) affiliated with the Civil Servants Confederation (Memur-Sen). Emekli Memur-Sen, which continues its activities under the umbrella of Memur-Sen Confederation, held a press release today to share retirees’ demands and expectations with the public following the inflation data announced. Speaking at the press release held at Ankara Ulus Square, Emekli Memur-Sen President Ali Küçükkösen reminded that with the inflation figures announced for the month of June, there will be a 24.73% increase in the pensions of workers and Bağ-Kur retirees, and a 19.31% increase in the pensions of civil servants and civil servant retirees. Küçükkösen stated that the flat-rate improvement made in July 2023 was not reflected in public officials’ pensions, arguing that public retirees have experienced a 6-month income loss as a result. Küçükkösen requested the necessary arrangements to be made for 2024 to be the Year of Retirees, stating, ‘Let’s reflect the flat-rate payment made in July 2023 to retiree pensions. Let’s include all incomes, including additional payments, in the base salary. Let’s increase the pension calculation rate. Let’s provide rent assistance. Let’s continue to pay spousal and child benefits. Let’s implement the 3600 Additional Indicator for the 1st Degree without delay. Most importantly, let’s grant retirees the right to organize. When we implement these issues, we will have heard the voice of retirees, seen their expectations, solved their problems, and made arrangements befitting the Year of Retirees.’ ‘We want to influence the collective bargaining table as public service retirees,’ said Küçükkösen, emphasizing that their expectations include the implementation of policies in line with the social state understanding. ‘As public service retirees, we want to have the right to organize, influence the collective bargaining table, participate in determining policies related to retirees, and convey our experience and knowledge in social dialogue environments,’ he added.
