Manisa Football Club, one of the Trendyol 1st League teams that leased the facilities of Manisa Metropolitan Municipality and had their contract canceled by a council decision taken last May, has vacated Halil Onultmak and Tevfik Lav Sports Facilities. During the May Ordinary Meeting of Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Council, a decision was made to cancel the operation transfer of the sports facilities allocated to Manisa Football Club for a monthly fee of 500 TL. While Manisa Football Club reacted to the decision, they announced today that they have been removed from Halil Onultmak and Tevfik Lav Sports Facilities. In a written statement made by the club, the following statements were included: “Manisa Football Club Academy players have been removed from Halil Onultmak and Tevfik Lav Sports Facilities by the instruction of Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek. The legal process regarding Fikri Bayrıl Sports Facility, which is used by our A Team and with which we have a lease contract, is ongoing. The decision of Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek, who experienced great enthusiasm during the match of the National Football Team, has disappointed our academy players who play in our academy and represent our national teams. We are following with great sadness Zeyrek’s attitude of trying to intimidate Manisa Football Club, Manisa Football Club athletes, athlete families, and staff, which contradicts his statement before the Local Elections of March 31st that he would support academy football players on the streets and not victimize them. We see that these attempts against Manisa Football Club, which has raised numerous football players for Turkish football, sent players to national teams, and represented the city of Manisa in the Trendyol 1st League for years, harm Manisa football, and leave the judgment to the public.” President Zeyrek: “Service will be provided to the public, not to rent” Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek responded to the statement of Manisa Football Club on social media, stating, “I am amazed to follow the statements of a private company named Manisa Football Club targeting me and our municipality, resorting to victimization by hiding behind our children in the infrastructure. As you know, the relevant company was using Halil Onultmak, Fikri Bayrıl, and Tevfik Lav sports facilities, which have been brought to our city with the money of the people of Manisa for years by Manisa Metropolitan Municipality, under the guise of a tenant for a ridiculous amount. We will put an end to this unfair attitude that damages the public conscience and hurts our other amateur sports clubs in the city. As we shared with our fellow citizens during the election period, we promised that the money of the public would be spent for the public good, and not a single penny would be given away to any individual, institution, or company. We canceled the lease contract of our facilities, where Manisa Football Club almost collapsed, in the May Metropolitan Municipality Council Meeting ‘unanimously,’ with the votes of not only the Republican People’s Party but also the AK Party, MHP, GOOD Party, and YRP council members. As we promised during the election period, the children in the infrastructure are our responsibility. They can continue their football careers in the Manisaspor youth setup. Those who have been using Manisa Metropolitan Municipality facilities for years for next to nothing, are now making baseless accusations against me, who put an end to this system and defend the rights of the most vulnerable orphans, along with our council members. We stand by our word. By fulfilling the promises we made one by one, we showed our determination in this direction to the dear people of Manisa. We recommend Manisa Football Club to find facilities that they will create with their own means, not with the money of our people. As I have always emphasized, I emphasize once again. From now on, the money of the citizens in Manisa will be spent for the public good, service will be provided to the public, not to rent.”
