The 31st term graduates of Malatya Inonu University Faculty of Medicine received their diplomas at a ceremony held.
A total of 266 medical students who completed a challenging education period at Inonu University Faculty of Medicine joined the healthcare army by receiving their diplomas at the graduation ceremony.
Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kizilay, Provincial Health Director Dr. Assistant Professor Erhan Berk, 7th Main Jet Base Commander Air Pilot Colonel Zeki Koltukoglu, Faculty of Medicine Dean Prof. Dr. Ali Beytur, Associate Professor Erol Karaaslan, Chief Physician of Battalgazi State Hospital, along with students and parents attended the graduation ceremony held at Turgut Ozal Congress and Culture Center.
Following the opening speeches, Faculty of Medicine Dean Prof. Dr. Ali Beytur, in his speech, touched upon the humanitarian tragedy in Palestine, condemning and denouncing Israel as the perpetrator of the massacres in Gaza, where hospitals are targeted and health workers are killed.
Beytur expressed his happiness in graduating 266 young colleagues this year, emphasizing the importance of their competence in serving humanity as skilled doctors. He praised the students for their dedication during unprecedented challenges such as the Sivrice earthquake in 2020, the pandemic, and the February 6th earthquakes, where they volunteered to serve at the hospital despite not being fully qualified doctors yet.
Inonu University Faculty of Medicine, established on June 26, 1987, as the 23rd Faculty of Medicine of the Republic of Turkey, has trained more than three thousand physicians, 1,351 specialist physicians, and 119 subspecialists so far.
Beytur mentioned that there are currently 240 faculty members, 450 research assistants, and 1,700 undergraduate students in 42 departments and 29 branches at the Faculty. He also expressed gratitude to the 8 rectors, 11 deans, academic and administrative staff who contributed to making the Faculty a world-class education and practice center.
After the speeches by Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kizilay, the top students of the term were presented with their diplomas and achievement certificates. The ceremony ended with the individual presentation of diplomas to the graduating doctors.
