The graduation ceremony of Van Yüzüncü Yıl University (YYÜ) for the academic year 2023-2024 was celebrated with enthusiasm. The graduation ceremony held on the university’s lawn was attended by Van Governor and Acting Mayor Dr. Ozan Balcı, YYÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Hamdullah Şevli, deans of faculties, some institution authorities, students, and their families. After a moment of silence and the national anthem, Governor Balcı delivered a welcoming speech, wishing success to all graduating students in their future endeavors. During his speech at the ceremony, Van YYÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Hamdullah Şevli expressed that they held a graduation ceremony for 2,300 associate degree students yesterday, stating, ‘Today, we will also hold the graduation ceremony for approximately 3,400 undergraduate graduates. Van YYÜ is one of the oldest universities established in 1982 in our country and region. Every year, we welcome around 6,000 new students, and graduate 5,000 to 5,500 students. We educate our students with a strong academic staff in the best possible way. We provide our students with very good education in line with the requirements of the era.'”We don’t leave our students after graduation” Şevli emphasized the importance of students’ outcomes as much as their inputs, stating, ‘Our graduates achieve success in exams, especially in KPSS, at a higher level than their inputs in central exams, which makes us happy. We also support our graduates in their career planning through our graduate information system. In other words, we do not leave our students after graduation. We support them in all career steps throughout their lives. We provide our students with internship and job opportunities through our career center via the E-human platform. This year, we will bid farewell to our students. There is intensive participation of students’ families. Therefore, they experience both sorrow and joy. With these feelings, I wish success to all graduate students and congratulate their families.
