President Bozbey calls for afforestation

Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Bozbey has taken action for reforestation of the forests after the fire on the Uludağ University campus. Mayor Bozbey stated that they will start planting trees on behalf of the Metropolitan Municipality employees and wished for this initiative to set an example for all institutions in the city. The fire, which started in Yolçatı Village in the Nilüfer district of Bursa and spread to the forest area on the Uludağ University campus, was brought under control in a wide area thanks to the intensive efforts of teams from the air and land. The fire, which the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality teams fought hard against, caused damage to an area of 700 hectares. After the fire was completely extinguished, Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Bozbey launched a mobilization for reforestation of the region. Mayor Mustafa Bozbey, who said they started the week with sad news, conveyed his get well wishes to everyone affected by the forest fires that started in Yolçatı Village and continued at Uludağ University. Thanking all the teams that made extraordinary efforts after the fire, Mayor Bozbey said, ‘Now it is time for all of us to revive life and hope throughout Bursa. We are starting to plant a tree on behalf of the 5890 employees of our Metropolitan Municipality to be able to grow new trees in place of each tree we lost, including all the fires we have experienced recently. I hope that this initiative we have started will set an example for all our participants, industrialists in Bursa, institutions, and organizations. Bursa is ours. Bursa is all of us. Let’s revive life and hope together.’
