The opening of the sea ferry services project, one of the projects of Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, for the Marmaris-Fethiye sea bus services, took place today from Marmaris Port.

From Marmaris, there are two trips every day at 10:30 in the morning and 5:00 in the evening, while from Fethiye, trips are scheduled at 08:00 in the morning and 1:00 in the afternoon, lasting 2 hours and 10 minutes. It was stated that the economy seat ticket prices were set at 301 Turkish Lira. Sea buses can also be used with Muğlakart transportation cards, and it was reported that they have the same facilities as public transportation vehicles throughout Muğla.

“A new era of service today”

Speaking at the opening, Marmaris Mayor Acar Ünlü said, “We continue to provide examples of contemporary and social municipalism for the people by keeping the promise we made during the election period in the squares. Today, with the project of our Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mr. Ahmet Aras, we are adding another link to this chain. Yesterday, we realized the route between Didim-Bodrum. Yes, today marks the beginning of a new era of service, we are here with a service model that has not been seen before in the Muğla region, thanks to our Metropolitan Municipality Mayor who led this project and all units that contributed. This is a project that all of us will use, a journey. An alternative transportation model to land between Fethiye and Marmaris. Good luck to all of us. Hopefully, together, we will continue to enjoy the unity between Fethiye and Marmaris even by sea.”

“We will show our citizens the unique coasts of Muğla”

Starting his speech by stating that he is a member of a maritime family from the Peloponnese Peninsula, Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Aras said, “The seas, maritime culture is very important. Especially in our region. For hundreds of years, our people have been dealing with the sea. Fishing, maritime trade, one of the most important ones is sponge diving. Maritime holds a special place in the tourism potential of Muğla, Marmaris, Fethiye, Bodrum, Datça, and all coastal towns. Of course, private initiatives, mariners are currently engaged in very important activities. We need to support them. But as local governments, we must use the 1480 kilometers of coastline, especially in the field of public transportation. Already, land traffic is causing serious problems in our region due to the population growth. At least to a certain extent, we have to activate the seas as well, to provide this service especially to the settled citizens of Muğla, our citizens, and the domestic and foreign tourists who visit Muğla. Think about it, if a tourist coming to Fethiye does not rent a private boat, does not rent a charter boat or a day trip boat, or a local resident, a local citizen, a citizen living here, cannot afford to pay that much money, they cannot see these beautiful bays throughout their lives, my friends. This is exactly where local governments need to step in. Social municipalism must show itself in this situation. Now, for example, a citizen of Marmaris can make a nice, safe, comfortable day trip to Fethiye. Let them see the Blue Lagoon, Fethiye Bay, the Rock Tombs, go to the Rock Village, explore the region. Similarly, when someone from Fethiye comes to Marmaris. Let them see beautiful Marmaris, its bazaar, shop, come to the market, go to Bozburun, see Selimiye, isn’t it so?”

“‘Car ferry from Çamlı to Bodrum’ announcement”

Continuing to talk about their new projects, Mayor Aras said, “We will launch a car ferry from Çamlı to Bodrum. This is also very important, my friends. Especially a car ferry service that will prevent the long land traffic of the region and save time, and will also make a nice contribution to the azure skies. We are working on this as well. Hopefully, we will establish this in the near future, we will put this into practice. In other words, we will connect the coasts of Muğla like lace with our maritime vision. In fact, in our previous assembly, with the approval of our Assembly members and presidents, we have already established our Maritime Corporation. We will now evaluate maritime separately.”

Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Aras, CHP Muğla Provincial Chairman Zekican Balcı, Fethiye Mayor Alim Karaca, unit managers from the Metropolitan Municipality, and many citizens boarded the Yeditepe 1 ship, which made the first journey between Marmaris and Fethiye that started today.
