Mustafa Kızılkan, the Head of the Fire Department of Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality, stated that lighters forgotten in vehicles expand due to heat exposure and cause explosions. In Kayseri, an increase in fire incidents has been observed due to the hot weather. Mustafa Kızılkan, the Head of the Fire Department of Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality, warned against leaving lighters, deodorants, and similar products in vehicles during hot weather. Kızılkan emphasized the importance of being cautious, especially in agricultural areas, as the harvesting season approaches and crops are removed from the fields. He highlighted the economic difficulties that could arise from fire incidents in agricultural areas. He urged drivers passing through these regions to be careful, not to discard open flames, and to be cautious when lighting a barbecue, ensuring the surroundings are free of dried grass. Kızılkan also stressed the importance of burying the embers and pouring water on them after use to prevent fires. He pointed out that uncontrolled fires not only lead to wildfires but also cause harm to wildlife and the environment. In case of a fire, he urged people to call the emergency number 112. Kızılkan also mentioned the risks of leaving animals in vehicles in sunny conditions and the potential dangers of items like deodorants, perfumes, and lighters expanding and causing explosions and fires inside vehicles when directly exposed to sunlight. Therefore, he advised drivers to be cautious and avoid placing such items in areas exposed to sunlight inside the vehicle.
