Stars of NEU shined at the award night
Necmettin Erbakan University (NEU) organized the fourth edition of the ‘Necmettin Erbakan University Academy Awards’ program this year in order to reward and encourage successful academics working within the institution.

Necmettin Erbakan University (NEU) organized the fourth edition of the ‘Necmettin Erbakan University Academy Awards’ program with the aim of rewarding and encouraging successful academics working within the university. The program took place at the NEU Faculty of Medicine Hospital Conference Hall and was attended by Konya Governor Vahdettin Özkan, Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay, Konya Chief Public Prosecutor Halil İnal, NEU Rector Prof. Dr. Cem Zorlu, NEU administrators, academics, and invitees.
“These awards are a call for guidance to students, young scientists, and future generations.” NEU Rector Prof. Dr. Cem Zorlu, who took the stage first at the program, stated that success occurs where there is a competitive and encouraging climate, emphasizing the importance of transforming the knowledge produced into societal benefit by transferring it to production, industry, business life, health, culture, and art. He highlighted the significance of making success stories more visible and inspiring, aiming for a perpetual success climate at Necmettin Erbakan University. He mentioned that the awards are not just congratulations but also to further motivate academics, empower them to create new success stories, and serve as a guidance call to students, young scientists, and future generations.
Expressing his pleasure to be in Konya and at Necmettin Erbakan University, TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal congratulated all academics who would receive awards in the categories of scientist, young scientist, artist, art encouragement, project performance, and patent. He wished them ease in assuming responsibilities and playing important roles in the development of our country and in solving problems. Following his speech, NEU Rector Prof. Dr. Cem Zorlu presented a gift to Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal.
“Valuable universities and academics are befitting for a city as ancient as Konya.” Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay, who stated that they are striving to develop Konya in every aspect, thanked all the academics who will receive awards today on behalf of all Konya residents for their contributions to science and our city. He expressed the desire for Konya to develop in every aspect and become one of the most beautiful cities in Turkey. He emphasized that a city which has been the capital for 200 years, hosted scientists from the east and west 800 years ago, and built an army of science and civilization deserves valuable universities and academics.
“Such events are crucial motivation in the scientific journey of young individuals.” Konya Governor Vahdettin Özkan congratulated all the awarded academics, stating that as a city, they benefit from the knowledge acquisition climate created by Necmettin Erbakan University. He emphasized the importance of as a society how we can motivate and make our children enthusiastic about the scientific journey. He believed that such events would contribute to this cause and highlighted the significance of cooperation among all stakeholders in the city, including the university, private sector, and public institutions. He congratulated Necmettin Erbakan University for organizing such a program and its academics for their achievements, wishing for continuous success.
During the ceremony, plaques and awards were presented to successful academics in categories such as NEVA Incentive Award, NEU Stars, NEU Young Stars, Art Person Award, Art Encouragement Award, Project Performance Award, and Patent Award.
