Erzurum-based artists Neslihan Arzu Keteci and Gülseren Özgör Dinçer presented their contemporary calligraphy works to art lovers at an exhibition held in Ankara. Continuing their journey of creating art with pebbles, as students of the master of painting with pebbles, Fehim İbrahimhakkıoğlu, Neslihan Arzu Keteci and Gülseren Özgör Dinçer opened their 3rd exhibition at Ankara Ziraat Bankası Kuğulu Art Gallery by showcasing contemporary calligraphy works. They expressed that the interest shown in their works not only made them happy but also encouraged them for future projects. In the exhibition named ‘Different Perspective,’ Keteci and Özgör stated that the works were designed to integrate into living spaces by using a new discourse, a new linear form, and a formal expression of Turkish Islamic Arts. They explained that the goal of the works is to bring the art of calligraphy out of the sanctuary and ensure its transition to the center of living spaces on an identity and personal level. They emphasized that the works in the exhibition carry elements of painting, graphics, contemporary and decorative features, aiming to introduce new narratives, colors, and forms to vacant spaces. These works contribute artistically and harmoniously to the changing dynamics of the world, as art is a way of life. Addressing all beliefs and the artistic taste of humanity, these works foresee a unification in an environment where discrimination divides and fragments societies. These works not only aim to provide a visual feast but also intend to positively influence and contribute to human psychology. Regarding the materials used in their works, their journey that started with entirely natural pebbles achieved a unity with marbling, gold leaf, and ceramics. The works adorned with marbling, sometimes with gold leaf and ceramics in addition to the positive energy provided by the stone’s hard texture, met the appreciation of art lovers. Starting contemporary calligraphy works with modern lines, the artists found it as an alternative to see that there was no such work in our country in this sense. The cycle of supply and demand became even more motivating with their departure from the conventional. They expressed their gratitude once again to their mentor, Erzurum Calligrapher and Illuminator Muhammet Mağ, for the artistic consultation of their exhibitions.
