During the Eid al-Adha holiday, the Marmaris Municipality Cleaning Department teams, working around the clock, continue their efforts to mitigate the effects of the holiday rush. While continuing their routine cleaning tasks, the teams carry out special work on the viewing hills where there is heavy human circulation, although it is not within the municipality’s jurisdiction. In this context, cleaning was first done at the Armutalan viewing hill. Workers, descending from the hills with ropes tied around their waists, collected the garbage thrown here one by one.
In the cleaning of the viewing hill, one of the most enjoyable places to watch the Marmaris view, waste such as glass bottles, plastic bottles, plastic, bags, styrofoam boxes, cardboard, paper, and newspaper pieces were collected. The teams also removed a toilet bowl thrown down. Despite the hot weather and challenging conditions, the Municipality team cleaned the environment with dedication and collected approximately 35 bags of waste.
Marmaris Mayor Acar Ünlü stated that the Marmaris Municipality Cleaning Department teams are working intensively and also putting in extra hours during the holiday. Mayor Ünlü said, ‘Cleaning Marmaris is our duty, but not littering is the duty of the citizens. Marmaris belongs to us, and we want Marmaris to stay clean. In the summer months, with the population density increasing in Marmaris, we are trying to reach everywhere and making efforts around the clock to keep our district clean. We invite all our citizens to the same sensitivity and kindly request that waste not be dumped randomly. Let’s not forget that there is no other world, and protecting it is our greatest responsibility,’ urging citizens to be sensitive to the environment.
