The Besime Özderici Barrier-Free Life Center Pool Complex, put into service for the use of disabled citizens upon the instructions of the Mayor of Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality, Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç, provides great benefits to students both mentally and physically.
One of the largest barrier-free life centers in its field in Turkey, the Besime Özderici Barrier-Free Life Center of Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality is expanding its service complex day by day to meet the educational and therapeutic needs of disabled individuals and to exceed international standards.
Initiated under the leadership of the Mayor of Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality, Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç, the Barrier-Free Life Center Pool Complex for disabled students was brought to life with the cooperation of the Metropolitan Municipality and philanthropists, setting an example for Turkey and the city, with the motto ‘No Barriers in Service’.
The Barrier-Free Indoor Swimming Pool, which is completely dedicated to disabled individuals with physical and therapy areas, continues its activities.
Only registered students benefit from the swimming pool, and since the complex opened, 150 students have been attending swimming sessions weekly.
Thanks to this project, disabled children benefiting from the swimming pool besides hydrotherapy show better development both mentally and physically through the sport of swimming, with swimming playing a particularly important role in autism treatment.
Children are taken to the sessions individually or in groups of two with a swimming instructor.
Special students express their happiness for this project, while parents thanked and prayed for Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç and the whole team.
It offers significant contributions to activating all muscles
The pool section, which was completed and put into service as the 4th block, includes a swimming pool, hydrotherapy treatment pools, fitness room, a room known as the dark room or snoezelen room, sensory integration room, and physiotherapy rooms.
The pool offers significant contributions to activating all muscles in the bodies of disabled individuals. Along with the gains to be achieved, it plays a significant role in enabling disabled individuals to have a more active role in social life, in their structured work, and in gaining self-confidence. It is aimed for students who are individually talented to progress towards becoming national athletes with the education they receive here.
