Call from Cangir to become a pilot

President of the Yalova Chamber of Geological Engineers, Ozan Burak Cangir, called on the people of Yalova to take the lead in earthquake precautions and raise awareness, stating that the chamber is always ready to support. Cangir issued an important warning to the people of Yalova, emphasizing the need to increase precautions against earthquake risks by pointing out that Yalova is located in the North Anatolian Fault Zone, one of the most active earthquake zones in Turkey. Cangir stated that we should learn from the bitter experiences throughout the country, saying, ‘We think we are in control of everything, but where is the problem? As a country, we have witnessed numerous earthquakes with very bitter experiences. We have suffered, died, been injured, carried our traumas for years, even those least affected have felt the pain, couldn’t hold back their tears. When it comes to earthquakes, in our country where everyone, whether relevant or irrelevant, has an opinion, most of our people actually live within a community that has earthquake memory. Everyone is very aware of the negatives that earthquakes can cause, yet why aren’t we taking a step despite being knowledgeable about all these things? After earthquakes, we all grieve together, show excessive reactions, act very sensitively, but unfortunately, this lasts only 2-3 months. We always blame nature for the fault. Whereas nature has been continuing its quite natural process for 4.5 billion years. Let’s not forget that the guilty ones are not the earthquakes, but we who never tire of being negligent and unconscious.’ He said. ‘How much did we, as people, actually want?’ Cangir, stating that the people of Yalova also need to take individual precautions, said, ‘Shall we talk about the needle before the pin? We have a famous saying. Before blaming others, blame yourself. We always complained about the indifference of the administrations, always blamed them, but how much did we, as people, actually want? How much pressure did we put on politicians regarding this issue? How much did we hope for it to be done. Now is the right time, not tomorrow, not later, right now is the best time. It is in our hands to describe a disaster as a very normal natural event. Let’s start igniting the torch of awareness from here all together.
