Bicycle tour from Bitlis Nemrut to Adıyaman Nemrut

BITLIS (IHA) – The Bicycle Tour from Tatvan Nemrut to Adiyaman Nemrut Mountain, organized by the Van Lake Activists Association operating in the district of Tatvan in Bitlis and led by the Bitlis Governorship, started for the 2nd time this year. The event, starting from Nemrut Crater Lake, the second highest crater lake in the world located at an altitude of 2,250 meters within the borders of Tatvan district and being the largest in Turkey, will continue to Nemrut Mountain in Kahta district of Adiyaman. Cyclists participating in the event will also visit historical and cultural sites in the cities along their route, organizing a cultural tour. Speaking at the opening program, Bitlis Governor Erol Karaömeroğlu stated that they aim to create a cultural route between the cities with this event, and welcomed the participants to Bitlis, an ancient city with untouched natural beauty, where Anatolia’s first Islamic land is, where empires’ roads intersect, where snowy mountains wake up to the sunlight of spring, where the land is greened by the water of ice-cold rivers, and where tradition embraces the future. He mentioned that they are gathered to give the start of the 2nd Bicycle Festival from the paradise on earth Bitlis to the historical Adiyaman Nemrut, following the route of Bitlis, Batman, Diyarbakir, and Adiyaman, aiming to create a cultural route between Bitlis Nemrut and historical Adiyaman Nemrut Mountain, and to develop the tourism potential of our cities. In such a meaningful event, he congratulated all the sports enthusiasts who have devoted themselves to cycling and wished them success. President of the Van Lake Activists Association, Erdoğan Özel, stated that the promotion of the Nemrut caldera, which they call the paradise on earth, will be made during the event. He emphasized the importance of Adiyaman Nemrut, a beautiful and historical place, within the Elite Destinations of Europe as a paradise on earth. He expressed their goal to first recognize and create awareness among the residents of the region. He thanked the governors, district governors, and institution authorities along the route, especially Bitlis Governor Erol Karaömeroğlu, for their contributions. Sahra Seven, who came from Istanbul with 10 friends to participate in the event, expressed her gratitude for the well-prepared track for cyclists and described the tour from Bitlis Tatvan Nemrut to Adiyaman Nemrut as a completely cultural and natural wonder. Yusuf Necati, who came from Tabriz, Iran to participate in the event, expressed his satisfaction to be there and mentioned that it was his second time participating in this tour. After the speeches, the cyclists took souvenir photos at the edge of Nemrut Crater Lake, and then the tour started with the kick-off by Bitlis Governor Erol Karaömeroğlu. Bitlis Governor Erol Karaömeroğlu, Tatvan District Governor Remzi Demir, Rector of Bitlis Eren University Prof. Dr. Necmettin Elmastaş, Director of Culture and Tourism Ali Fuat Eker, Director of Youth and Sports Bilal Elkatmış, President of the Van Lake Activists Association Erdoğan Özel, and cyclists from both domestic and foreign participated in the opening program held at Nemrut Crater Lake, a natural wonder.
