Kırıkkale Provincial Health Director Dr. Murat Ağırtaş stated that extreme heat brings along many health problems, emphasizing that especially children, the elderly, those with chronic illnesses, and those directly exposed to the sun are at higher risk between 10:00-16:00. Dr. Ağırtaş warned the public against sunstroke due to rising temperatures. He highlighted the importance of avoiding going outside as much as possible during these hours and, if necessary, wearing sunglasses, a hat, and staying hydrated. Dr. Ağırtaş emphasized the need to avoid prolonged unprotected sun exposure, excessive physical activity, and to consume liquid foods. Symptoms of sunstroke include weakness, nausea, vomiting, palpitations, and headaches. Dr. Ağırtaş stressed the vital importance of seeking medical help when these symptoms occur. Furthermore, he mentioned the necessity of consuming at least 2-3 liters of fluids daily to prevent fluid and mineral loss, opting for low-fat cheese, olives, and fresh vegetables for breakfast, choosing milk, fresh fruit juice, and herbal teas instead of caffeinated beverages, and consuming plenty of vegetables and fruits. Dr. Ağırtaş also pointed out that excessive consumption of cold beverages can cause stomach cramps, advised against buying food from outdoor vendors, and underscored the importance of adhering to hygiene rules.
