A helping hand from the teams to the tortoise stuck in the middle of the flames

Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality fire brigade teams rescued a tortoise trapped in a land fire in Eskişehir Bağları, a district of Melikgazi, by cooling it with water and releasing it back into nature. Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç warned the citizens about the unconscious burning of stubbles.

Strengthened even more under the instruction of Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç, the Metropolitan Fire Brigade Organization, with 17 stations, 57 vehicles, and 308 personnel, can intervene in fires and other incidents more effectively and safely, while successfully continuing its mission to protect and rescue the lives of all creatures in danger, in addition to fires and natural disasters.

In this context, a notification was made to the fire brigade teams due to a land fire in Eskişehir Bağları of Melikgazi district. Metropolitan Municipality fire brigade teams quickly arrived at the scene upon the notification. The teams also rescued a tortoise trapped in the land fire in Eskişehir Bağları. The tortoise, rescued by the fire brigade teams, was cooled with water and then released back into nature.

Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç, in his statement regarding the issue, emphasized the importance of all farmers and citizens showing sensitivity to not burning stubbles and taking necessary precautions.

Mayor Büyükkılıç pointed out that even the smallest spark can cause a huge fire, especially during the harvest season, stating, ‘Unconscious burning of stubbles turns into major fires. Therefore, I would like to remind everyone to be more careful and sensitive in the fields.’

Warning against burning stubbles left in the fields after the harvest season, Büyükkılıç expressed that such fires not only have many negative environmental and economic consequences but also cause great harm to other living creatures in the fields.

Mayor Büyükkılıç also extended his condolences to the citizens who lost their lives in the fire that started as a stubble fire in Çınar district of Diyarbakır and spread towards Mazıdağı district of Mardin in recent days, wishing mercy from Allah, and patience and condolences to their families and loved ones.
