Especially Emmental and other varieties of cheeses are among the highlights of the museum. Kars Cheese Museum, the first and only museum in Turkey, attracted great interest during the holiday. The museum, which is the first stop for local and foreign tourists visiting Kars to spend their holidays, enchants its visitors.

In Kars, where various types of cheese, especially Gravyer, are produced, Turkey’s first thematic Cheese Museum established in the historical Cavalry Barracks includes sections depicting the life in the highlands, dairy farms, and the adventure of cheese production. With its 1,100 square meters of visitable area, the museum also carries the title of ‘the world’s largest cheese museum.’

Havva Göçen Kar, who came from Trabzon to spend the holiday in Kars, said, ‘We are currently at the Cheese Museum. We are glad we came. Because the presentation of various types of cheese specific to Kars, in such a beautifully organized historical building, and the narration of their stories deeply impressed all of us. We learned a lot of things we didn’t know, we toured these places with a guide, we are happy and satisfied.’

Harun Hamza Çebi, expressing that the museum deeply impressed them, said, ‘We are in the most beautiful of the places we have visited. The evaluation of these places in this way is really valuable to us because we prevent them from being lost. Moreover, utilizing these places as museums and promoting them, as well as introducing regional products in a beautiful way, bring us joy from visiting this museum. We truly enjoyed touring it. We thank everyone who contributed.’

In the museum where many cheeses produced in Kars are introduced along with endemic flowers that give flavor to the cheese, there are sections such as Gravyer production, cheese room, video room, representative Kars Railway Station, Kars flora, Ankara Gazi Railway Station, Kars houses, chef, and workshop sections.

The museum, where Gravyer cheese is vividly narrated, also includes glimpses of the production of cheeses specific to Kars. The visitors are also drawn to the symbolic Gravyer cheeses placed at the entrance of the Cheese Museum.
