Turkey Culture Road Festivals continue with Trabzon

The Trabzon leg of the Turkey Culture Road Festival, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 16 cities, started today with the events held. The festival started with a folklore show at the Trabzon July 15 Martyrs and Liberty Park, and was attended by Culture and Tourism Deputy Minister Nadir Alpaslan, Trabzon Governor Aziz Yıldırım, Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç, and many participants. Following the folklore shows, Culture and Tourism Deputy Minister Nadir Alpaslan stated that the 5th Turkey Culture Road Festival was organized in Trabzon, saying ‘We started our festival in Trabzon with a magnificent show. For nine days, we will experience festivities in the field of Culture and Arts in Trabzon. More than 500 artists will participate in over 500 events at forty points. I wish our people to enjoy and immerse in culture and arts.’ Governor Aziz Yıldırım also mentioned in his speech that ‘Culture is the values that a nation has created over centuries. Some are based entirely on stage plays, some are just narratives. However, gastronomy, clothing, games, they are all part of the culture. Hopefully, Trabzon will indulge in culture for nine days.’ Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç found the festival very beneficial, stating ‘This ancient city has three distinctive features; history, culture, and art. Last year, the Culture Ministry initiated the Culture Road Festival nationwide, and this year it continues to grow in 16 cities. Evaluating this festival as an event where all internal disciplines of culture and art are experienced simultaneously, I find it very positive and beneficial for Trabzon, a city of culture and art. We are very happy that this festival is not just a musical show, but an event where all disciplines of culture and art are experienced.’
