Kyrgyz Yrysbek Toktorov (26), who ignored the signs of kidney failure despite showing the first symptoms about 10 years ago by saying ‘I am young, nothing will happen to me,’ found cure in Turkey. The Kyrgyz young man received a kidney transplant from his mother Shayirgul Berdibaeva (51) at Izmir Acibadem Kent Hospital. Dr. Isik Ozgu, stating that the kidney adapted and the Kyrgyz youth was saved from dialysis, said, ‘We discharged the mother and son in good health.’ Kyrgyz Yrysbek Toktorov, who lives in the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, and works as an IT specialist in the media sector, went to the doctor at the age of 16 when he saw blood in his urine. Despite warnings from doctors, he did not properly continue the medication treatment he started. A year and a half ago, the Kyrgyz young man, who learned that his disease was progressing insidiously when he went to the doctor with complaints of shortness of breath and high blood pressure, deteriorated further in February. With his legs cramping and his eating and drinking habits disrupted, Toktorov started dialysis treatment when his creatinine levels rose to 1400. While undergoing dialysis treatment, a decision was made for a transplant for Toktorov. Father Toktorov, who works in the press department of the Kyrgyzstan Ministry of Emergency Situations, made intense efforts to save his son from machine-dependent life and to undergo the treatment recommended by the doctors. The result of these efforts brought them to Izmir Acibadem Kent Hospital in Turkey. Following examinations, it was determined that Shayirgul Berdibaeva was a suitable donor for her son. Necessary preparations for the transplant were completed, and the Kyrgyz mother and son were operated on by the kidney transplant team consisting of Urology specialists Dr. Isik Ozgu, Dr. Ugur Saracoglu, Dr. Gokhan Ekin, and Nephrology specialists Prof. Dr. Huseyin Toz and Assoc. Dr. Ebru Sevinc Ok on May 11th. Dr. Ozgu said, ‘Everything went well before and after the surgery. We discharged the mother and son in good health.’ The Kyrgyz young man, who received a kidney transplant from his mother, expressed his joy in being free from dialysis, saying, ‘I used to be an athletic young man wrestling. I neglected my treatments and check-ups by saying ‘I am young, nothing will happen to me.’ I mean, I disregarded my health, I neglected it. Now I am very well, I am free from dialysis.’
