The wrestlers continue to sweat in the arena at the 16th Sekapark Altın Kemer Oil Wrestling, which is the 3rd stage of the Turkish Oil Wrestling League. A total of 1,623 wrestlers are fiercely competing in the matches, and the champion will become the owner of the golden belt.
The 16th edition of the Sekapark Altın Kemer Oil Wrestling, traditionally organized by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, is ongoing on the second day. This year’s champion wrestler will be determined in the organization held in the name of Bülent Gürbüz, and the event will conclude tomorrow with the grand final. The brave wrestlers showcased their skills at the Izmit Athletics Track. A total of 1,623 wrestlers, including 74 chief wrestlers, 98 sub-chief wrestlers, and 110 senior wrestlers, registered for the oil wrestling competition. Wrestlers from various age groups, ranging from minik-1 to senior categories, tied their belts to bring down their opponents. Starting with the initial matches, the wrestlers engaged in fierce competition. Today in the 16th Sekapark Altın Kemer Oil Wrestling, prior to the 663rd Annual Kırkpınar Oil Wrestling, the chief wrestlers are competing in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounds. Tomorrow, the chief wrestler will compete in the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and final matches.
At the end of the day, the champion wrestler will receive the specially prepared golden belt adorned with motifs specific to Sekapark Altın Kemer Oil Wrestling and Kocaeli. In the Sekapark stage, which is the 3rd organization of the Turkish Oil Wrestling League, the winners are awarded an extra 3 points. The wrestlers who rank in the top 64 in their categories in the Turkish Oil Wrestling League earn the right to directly participate in the Annual Kırkpınar Oil Wrestling.
