Experts drawing attention to the increasing wildfires in vacant lands due to rising temperatures in recent days, warned citizens against stubble, field, garden, and forest fires. Barbecue, cigarettes, fires lit for cleaning purposes, and randomly thrown bottles are said to invite forest fires; it was emphasized that in hot weather, dried grass and leaves become susceptible to catching fire with a small spark, and citizens were asked to be cautious against this situation. Teams stated, ‘As temperatures rise, the possibility of an increase in stubble, garden, field, and forest fires also increases. Fires lit for cleaning purposes cause great harm to nature, leading to large uncontrollable fires.’ It also harms the soil and living organisms. It was mentioned that stubble fires harm the soil and living organisms by reducing the amount of organic matter, decreasing microbiological activity, and causing the disappearance of invertebrate animals. The soil’s water retention capacity decreases, soil fertility declines, erosion risk increases, biological balance is disrupted, and physical and chemical structure are damaged. Air and environmental pollution increase, forest fires like wildfires increase, telephone and power lines are damaged, the risk of traffic accidents increases, and national wealth loss occurs. Regarding precautions, it was stated that maintenance should be carried out in citizens’ land, fields, and areas, and overgrown grass should be cut. Fires should not be lit for garden cleaning. No littering should be done in picnic and excursion areas, and easily flammable materials should not be left. Reflective materials (glass, metal, etc.) that reflect sunlight should not be left. Cigarettes, etc., should not be thrown from moving vehicles.
