Trade bridge from Shanghai to Izmir

Vice President Yang Dongsheng of the Shanghai Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the Shanghai Trade Delegation visited the Izmir Chamber of Commerce. During the visit hosted by Vice President of the Izmir Chamber of Commerce Board Emre Kızılgüneşler, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Shanghai Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the Izmir Chamber of Commerce.

Cooperation in the logistics field
During the meeting, potential collaborations in green energy, logistics, and trade fair sectors were discussed. It was mentioned that collaborations could be developed with Shanghai within the scope of the planned ‘Sustainable Energy Center’ at Izmir University of Economics. Similarly, it was discussed that joint projects could be carried out in distribution and logistics areas within the Kemalpaşa Logistics Center, and cooperation between Izmir and Shanghai in the field of logistics within the Silk Road project led by China could be established. A briefing file on the Kemalpaşa Logistics Center was presented to the delegation.

Trade fair bridge between Shanghai and Izmir
It was emphasized during the meeting that the increasing number of free zones in Izmir could attract investments from Chinese companies to newly established free zones or facilitate joint investments between Izmir and Shanghai companies. It was discussed that trade fair visits between Shanghai and Izmir are of great importance for the development of commercial relations between the two cities. Agreement was reached on organizing delegation visits to trade fairs held in Shanghai and Izmir.

11 agreements with institutions in the People’s Republic of China
Emre Kızılgüneşler, Vice President of the Izmir Chamber of Commerce, expressed satisfaction in renewing the existing cooperation agreement between the Shanghai Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and the Chamber. He stated that with this agreement, the number of agreements signed by the Chamber with institutions in the People’s Republic of China has reached 11. He also highlighted that the intensive discussions between the Shanghai Trade Delegation and the Chamber members once again confirmed that China is a strategic target market for our city and country. He emphasized the Chamber’s commitment to continue working in cooperation with sister institutions in the region to support our members in entering the Chinese market and to maximize cooperation opportunities.

Invitation to Shanghai
Vice President Yang Dongsheng of the Shanghai Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) expressed that the visit organization was very productive and invited the Izmir Chamber of Commerce delegation to Shanghai to ensure the continuity of relations.

Over 100 bilateral business meetings took place
Following the visit, more than 100 bilateral business meetings were held between 5 Chinese companies operating in automotive, urban lighting, tourism, technology, logistics, customs clearance, foreign trade, architectural decoration, and trade fair sectors and members of the Izmir Chamber of Commerce. The member firms participating in the business meetings also had the opportunity to meet with representatives of the Shanghai Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the Shanghai International Trade Association.
