The 16th Sekapark Golden Belt Oil Wrestling, which will bring together more than 1,700 wrestlers, will start tomorrow in Kocaeli. Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality is excited to host another important sports event nationwide. The countdown has begun for the 16th edition of the Sekapark Golden Belt Oil Wrestling, traditionally organized by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality every year. The event, which will bring together Turkey’s top wrestlers in the traditional Turkish sport of oil wrestling, will take place on June 21-22-23 at the Izmit Athletics Track. The grand event, which will be attended by Metropolitan Mayor Tahir Buyukakin, will be held in honor of the champion wrestler Bülent Gürbüz this year. Work is underway at full speed for the organization that will bring together more than 1,700 wrestlers. The 16th Sekapark Golden Belt Oil Wrestling, which is part of the Turkey Oil Wrestling League consisting of 6 events organized by the Turkish Traditional Wrestling Federation, will be the 3rd event of the league. Wrestlers who rank in the top 64 in their weight class in the Turkey Oil Wrestling League will earn the right to participate directly in the Historic Kırkpınar Oil Wrestling. Moreover, the Sekapark stage, where an extra 3 points will be awarded to the winners, holds a special importance for the wrestlers. The 16th Sekapark Golden Belt Oil Wrestling, where wrestlers will compete fiercely before the 663rd edition of the Historic Kırkpınar Oil Wrestling, will see Turkey’s most ambitious wrestlers tying the knot and wrestling as symbols of valor, courage, and heroism. The champion wrestler of the event will receive a specially prepared golden belt adorned with the motifs unique to Sekapark and Kocaeli. Wrestling enthusiasts from all over Turkey will come to Kocaeli to enjoy the breathtaking competitions. In addition to wrestlers showcasing their strengths and techniques in 14 different weight categories, the champion wrestlers will also sweat in the arena.
