Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, İbrahim Yumaklı, stated that more than 7,500 inspectors conducted 56,038 inspections at food establishments nationwide before Eid al-Adha, and during these inspections, administrative fines totaling 39,629,334 TL were imposed on 608 individuals and businesses.

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Ibrahim Yumaklı announced that more than 7,500 officials conducted a total of 56,038 inspections at food establishments nationwide before Eid al-Adha, imposing administrative fines totaling 39,629,334 TL on 608 individuals and businesses during these inspections. Yumaklı emphasized in a written statement that they continue to work diligently to keep every step of the food chain under control, ensuring the delivery of reliable food to the citizens. He also highlighted their efforts to prevent unfair competition in the market, stating that in 2023, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry conducted 1,300,000 official food inspections, imposing administrative fines on 18,948 establishments. Yumaklı underlined that more than 56,000 inspections were carried out to ensure food safety, intensifying official food inspections nationwide before Eid al-Adha by over 7,500 food control officials. Starting from before Eid al-Adha until June 1, 2024, a total of 56,038 inspections were conducted nationwide, resulting in a total of 39,629,334 TL in administrative fines imposed on 608 individuals/businesses. Legal complaints were filed against 3 establishments. Yumaklı indicated that inspection activities have been increased by teams during Eid al-Adha, showing sensitivity towards all food establishments, especially sugar and sugary products, bakery products, flour products, and dessert production and sales locations. He called on consumers to report any food-related complaints to the nationwide Alo 174 Food Line or the 0501 174 0 174 Whatsapp Food Complaint Line. Yumaklı emphasized that consumers are the best inspectors, and the more they participate in the process, the faster and easier results can be achieved. He assured that they do not tolerate those who jeopardize the health of citizens and will continue to be vigilant.
