Samet Sınıkçı, who provides phone repair and maintenance services in the district of Ereğli in Zonguldak, issued important warnings about the risk of low-quality phone batteries exploding in hot weather. Emphasizing the dangers of using the phone while charging, Sınıkçı warned users to be careful. Technician Samet Sınıkçı stated that the most common complaints are about battery and screen replacements. Sınıkçı said, ‘Users mostly come for battery replacements. Screen replacements are also common. After screen replacement, there are face recognition problems. We repair those. Similarly, battery and screen malfunctions are common. These are generally the most common problems we encounter.’
‘Use of original charger is a must’ Sınıkçı emphasized the importance of using original chargers for the healthy operation of devices. Saying ‘As long as the charger is original, there won’t be many problems,’ Sınıkçı stated, ‘If aftermarket chargers are used and they cannot provide sufficient current or current protection and enough amperage, they cause the device to heat up. Also, the battery gets damaged.’ Emphasizing that low-quality chargers damage devices, Sınıkçı expressed, ‘If an original charger is not used, those approved for quality should be preferred.’
‘Be careful with phone usage in hot weather’ Pointing out that devices naturally heat up more in hot weather, Sınıkçı drew attention to the risks of using the phone while charging. Sınıkçı warned, ‘There is no high temperature in normal device usage. But when the device is used while charging, it’s a different story. Because all current phones have a voltage higher than one amp, they inevitably heat up the device, and if the device is actively used such as watching videos, listening to music, or browsing social media, the processor works more, causing the device to heat up excessively.’
‘Precautions against explosion risk’ Sınıkçı stated that the risk of batteries exploding generally stems from battery replacements, emphasizing that unauthorized replacements and non-original batteries pose a significant risk. Sınıkçı said, ‘The reason for battery explosions is usually due to battery replacements. Batteries are replaced by unauthorized individuals, and non-original batteries are sold as if they were original. Generally, customers opt for cheaper options knowing that original batteries are expensive, but low-cost batteries lack quality.’
‘Avoid using while charging’ warning Sınıkçı provided the following recommendations regarding phone usage in hot weather: ‘Devices already reach a minimum of thirty degrees even when in use. When used, they should avoid exposure to sunlight as much as possible in hot weather. Also, the device should use the original charger. If an original charger is not used, approved aftermarket quality chargers can be used, and they should be capable of meeting the device’s current needs. Most importantly, it is better not to use the device while it is charging. It is healthier to leave the phone on the table while it’s charging and then use it after it’s charged.’
