Dr. Res. Asst. Selahattin Budak in Gümüşhane has obtained the patent for the project prepared to reintegrate the waters wasted until the hot water tap is turned on back into the network. The project aims to significantly increase water saving in households.

Dr. Res. Asst. Selahattin Budak, who works in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Gümüşhane University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, along with Research Assistant Yusuf Yakut and Research Assistant Harun Çolak, aims to increase water saving in households with the invention named ‘System Reintroducing Cold Water Wasted Until Desired Water Temperature is Reached Back into the Network.’

In the system that will be integrated into the boilers in households, the cold water flowing until the water is heated will be preserved in a tank until it reaches the average temperature, and then it will be included in the network system.

Dr. Res. Asst. Selahattin Budak, who stated that they are ready to work on the physical realization of this invention, expressed their aim to completely eliminate water loss at these points.

“An invention that can enter everyone’s home and provide water saving”

Dr. Res. Asst. Selahattin Budak, who explains the working details of the project and emphasizes that it can be easily used in every household, said, “The project we have obtained a patent for is a method that everyone can apply in their homes. Our goal here is to minimize water loss during the time it takes for the water to heat up in the bathroom or kitchen. In the project for which we obtained a patent, the water taken from the network remains in the tank through recycling until it heats up and then is sent back to the network. Especially in the bathroom, when the water is turned on, at least one bucket of water goes to waste. Our aim is to completely eliminate or minimize this loss. If a bucket is 30 liters, imagine that 100 liters of water can be saved if baths are taken 3 days a week, in a 10-story building, we can prevent almost a thousand liters of water loss. We obtained this patent, if an offer comes to us, we will prioritize bringing it to the economy for our country. In this system, we install this system at the outlet of the water without attaching anything to the boiler. We do not allow the cold water to enter the hot water system until it reaches a certain degree. The water is then sent to the network after it heats up.”
