Interest in the projects of world-renowned architect Karatay

Konya’s central Karatay District Municipality is attracting attention not only nationwide but also on the international platform with its special and unique projects it has implemented. From urban transformation to social municipalism, from environmentally friendly application projects to education, Karatay Municipality, which has been appreciated nationwide with its significant, special, and unique investments, is also drawing interest on the international platform. In this context, Mayor of Karatay, Hasan Kılca, hosted world-renowned Japanese Architect Shigeru Ban, who has won the hearts of people with his aid to earthquake victims in Turkey after the 1999 earthquake, and famous Turkish architect Emre Arolat, who has won numerous national and international awards with his designs, in Karatay. The famous architects inspected the restoration of Obruk Inn and Kızören Obruğu Environmental Arrangement Works, Lavender Gardens, Karatay Mevlana Rose Park, Hobby and Picnic Garden, restoration works of historical houses, and facade health improvement works on Mahmut Dede Street implemented by Karatay Municipality. Mayor Hasan Kılca informed the famous architects about the projects they have implemented as a municipality.
Mayor Hasan Kılca stated, ‘We are touching the lives of our fellow citizens and contributing to the tourism of our city and country.’ He expressed his pleasure that the famous architects Shigeru Ban and Emre Arolat visited Karatay to examine the investments and projects they have realized as a municipality. He emphasized that they have signed important, special, and unique investments in various fields such as urban transformation, social municipalism, environmentally friendly application projects, and education. Mayor Kılca thanked the famous architects for their interest in their projects and for their visit.
World-famous Japanese architect Shigeru Ban in Karatay. Furthermore, Shigeru Ban, the winner of the 2014 Pritzker Prize, who gives lectures and seminars at various architecture schools around the world, participated as a speaker at a conference organized by Karatay Municipality at Karatay Ali Ulvi Kurucu Youth Center. Mayor Hasan Kılca, in his speech before the conference organized in collaboration with the Konya Branch of the Chamber of Architects, drew attention to Konya’s rich history. Mayor Kılca stated, ‘Our Konya is one of the most special cities in our country and even in the world with its history and culture. Our city also houses very important works unique to itself in terms of architecture. I believe that we will gain a lot from listening to the famous architect in this program. I express my gratitude to Shigeru Ban for coming to our Konya and Karatay, making us happy.’ After Mayor Hasan Kılca’s speech, the world-renowned architect Shigeru Ban presented to the participants his progress in architectural design and applications, both through his own designs and worldwide.
