Elazig Mayor Sahin Sherifogullari announced that he will support the events titled ‘We are the voice of Anatolian women’ to be organized on 29-30 June by the Women’s Fight Against Violence Association and the team ‘Guler Misin Aglar Misin’. The Women’s Fight Against Violence Association will hold a torchlight ceremony and stage a theater play on 29 and 30 June to raise awareness about violence against women. The association, which continues its visits and activities to relevant institutions, had attracted great attention with a theater play on violence against women performed recently in collaboration with a theater group. President of the Women’s Fight Against Violence Association, Gulnar Karagol, shared the details of the events to be held with the support of Elazig Municipality. She stated, ‘Our association has taken ownership of the highly influential theater play on violence against women staged by our association and the team ‘Guler Misin Aglar Misin’ on 7 June. As a result of our meeting with Mayor Sahin Sherifogullari to amplify our voice, the mayor has provided great support by fully endorsing our events titled ‘We are the voice of Anatolian women’ to be held on 29 and 30 June, aiming to raise awareness on the sensitive issue of violence against women and put an end to femicides. We are very grateful to him. His profound awareness of all the issues in Elazig and his highly sensitive approach towards the violence faced by women truly demonstrate that he is a person who embodies the title of ‘City Governor’. As the Women’s Fight Against Violence Association, our mayor will provide free municipal buses on 29 June from the Teacher’s House municipal stop to transport all participants to Harput. At 20:23, under the shadow of our Turkish flag at Balak Gazi Park, illuminated by ‘Cayda Cira’, we will light torches with all participants to shed light on the future of women facing violence in Anatolia. On 30 June at 18:30, our theater play will be staged at the Ahmet Tevfik Ozan Congress Center allocated by our mayor, and all citizens are invited to attend.
