Ortahisar Municipality Mayor Ahmet Kaya attended the traditional holiday gathering ceremony in Yeşilbük neighborhood where he was born and raised. Expressing his great joy in celebrating the holiday in the village where he was born and raised, Mayor Kaya said, ‘We grew up together, we all know each other. By the grace of God and with your support, we became the Mayor of Ortahisar. Now the people expect services from us. We are trying our best to provide services to every corner of our Trabzon. Today, our teams are carrying out concreting and asphalt works in 39 neighborhoods of Trabzon. Of course, I am a son of this village, I was born and raised here. The issues of this village are my issues. We do whatever needs to be done, but apart from that, we do not turn a blind eye to any request that comes to us from any of our 87 neighborhoods, and we try to solve it immediately within our means.’
‘Holidays are the periods where brotherhood, friendship, and camaraderie are strengthened, where reconciliations take place, where all hostilities and troubles are set aside, and everyone embraces each other with a sense of family,’ said Mayor Kaya. ‘We want every day in our country, in our homeland, to be like a holiday. It is the duty of politicians to ensure this. In these beautiful lands, in this heavenly country, everyone should live in peace. Let’s produce together, let’s share with justice. No one should suffer from poverty, everyone’s table should be full of abundance. It is the responsibility of those in power to do this. Our country has suffered a lot from discrimination, partisanship, we must put an end to this. This country has suffered a lot from partisanship, it’s a pity. You see, we have everything in our nature, air, water, greenery, but if people are still suffering from poverty in this country, if many people are struggling to make ends meet, then something is wrong somewhere. Whoever is making this mistake, we must put an end to it by setting aside partisanship. We must live together in this heavenly country, and we must support those who do the right and just deeds. If we are also wrong, please tell us.’
‘I will not allow a single penny of Ortahisar to be wasted’ Mayor Kaya emphasized that they take care of the trust of the 332 thousand people living in Ortahisar and will not allow even a single penny of the public money to be wasted. ‘I do not like people who do not work. I also told my staff that our effort, without discrimination, is to serve Trabzon. What is the way to do this? It is through work. It is to bring halal bread to one’s home. I do not agree with someone receiving a salary without working. Everyone should work diligently, sweat, and bring halal bread to their homes. I told this to all my staff, and they are also making a great effort to do their job well. This is what we all should do. There is a beautiful saying by Atatürk that says, ‘The one who loves his country the most is the one who does his job best.’ This is the point, each of us, no matter what job we do, will strive to do it the best. This is both humane, conscientious, and the most righteous thing to do. May Allah grant us all to do the right deeds.’
‘We will work day and night throughout our term in office’ Mayor Kaya expressed that they will rush to meet all the needs of the citizens. ‘Our concern, our effort is for this. Wherever there is a problem, wherever there is someone in need, let us know, we will do our best within our means. The people have entrusted us with authority for 5 years, during this period of authority, we will work day and night. Nothing can hinder us from working, and you will see that. There have been many people who have served our village and Trabzon a lot, may Allah be pleased with all of them. We will try to take what they have done to a further level. Without hurting each other, without offending, we will strive together to serve the good and beautiful. This is what befits us. Hopefully, we will experience beautiful days like holidays together. Thank you all very much, I wish you a happy holiday.’
Mayor Kaya listened to the demands of Yeşilbük residents. During the program, citizens requested help from Mayor Kaya regarding transportation and water issues. Mayor Kaya stated that transportation and water-related issues fall under the responsibility of Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality, saying, ‘Our Metropolitan Municipality Mayor is also a well-intentioned, diligent friend of ours. We will seek help from him when we need it, and we do. We have made some progress in this regard. Let’s see what will come out of it? I will also intervene.’ Expressing his wish for the reopening of the village school that was closed due to the shuttle education system, Mayor Kaya said that if the village school is reopened, the village population will also increase. Mayor Kaya concluded his speech by saying, ‘Wherever we are needed, we will be there, we will stand by you,’ and exchanged holiday greetings with the participants of the holiday program.
