President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan drew attention to the fact that Turkey is surrounded by a ring of fire and emphasized that there is not even a single moment to be wasted on unnecessary debates, saying, ‘We believe that Turkey should quickly leave behind the tense atmosphere caused by elections and focus entirely on the future.’ Speaking via video conference with AK Party organizations to exchange holiday greetings on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed the opposition, stating that it is time for a constructive, positive, and unifying discourse instead of a destructive and provocative language. Erdoğan also emphasized the need to move away from the tense atmosphere created by elections as soon as possible, saying, ‘While our country is surrounded by a ring of fire, terrorists nest beyond our borders, and the world is going through a period of great uncertainty from Europe to America, we do not have a single moment to waste on unnecessary debates. We believe that Turkey should quickly leave behind the tense atmosphere caused by elections and focus entirely on the future. Politics, which is a competition of service to the country and the nation, should not be perceived as an ongoing war of attrition between different parties. Therefore, the opposition must quickly abandon the habit of conducting politics with unjust accusations, slanders, and accusatory statements that do not fit political etiquette. It is imperative for the opposition to adopt a different style, a constructive, positive, and unifying approach instead of a destructive and provocative language. We hope that Eid al-Adha will contribute to the strengthening of such an atmosphere.’ Ending his speech by addressing party members, President Erdoğan continued, ‘I expect you to conduct your political activities with this understanding. While serving our nation in all 81 provinces, never forget this: AK Party is the broadest family in Turkey in terms of its membership and spectrum. The People’s Alliance is the guarantee of the unity, integrity, and brotherhood of 85 million people. The stronger our alliance, the safer Turkey will be. Therefore, we will not fall into the traps set by those who stir up trouble. We will not allow breaches in the walls of our party and alliance. We will carry out our struggle by tightening our ranks, strengthening our solidarity, and coming together more tightly. I trust my comrades in the AK Party organization.’
