There is water in every street of the neighborhood, except this one

In a neighborhood in Adana, while drinking water flows in all streets, only in one street where the water is cut off in the morning and comes back at night is causing distress to the residents. Hanifi Gidik, who resides in a house on that street, said, ‘The water goes off at 10.00 in the morning and comes back at night. We were embarrassed during the Eid al-Adha. They couldn’t solve this problem.’

In Mehmet Akif Ersoy Neighborhood, affiliated with Sarıçam district, while drinking water is available in all streets, water has been cut off in the 138th Street in the mornings and comes back in the evenings for years. Homeowners experiencing such trouble without any malfunctions asked for help from Adana Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeydan Karalar to resolve their problems.

‘We still face water shortages during the holidays’
Hanifi Gidik (58), who mentioned that water is cut off in the mornings for about 4 years and comes back in the late evenings, said, ‘There is no water in Mehmet Akif Ersoy 138th Street. We have been facing the same problem for 4 years. The water is cut off at 10.00 in the morning and comes back at 22.00-23.00 in the night. We meet all our needs that way. Today is a holiday, but when I open my tap, there is no water. As a person living in a water paradise like Adana, we couldn’t solve the water shortage.’

‘Water is cut off in our street, while available in other places’
Gidik, who stated that he applied everywhere for a solution to this problem but couldn’t reach a solution, said, ‘Water is cut off in our street, there is no malfunction or repair in our neighborhood. I say that there is no water cut or malfunction in the neighborhoods or streets around our neighborhood. Our water is currently cut off and not available.’

‘We slaughtered animals for sacrifice, but we are in a terrible situation’
Nurgül Yıldız said, ‘We can’t do laundry, wash dishes, or take a shower. We slaughtered animals for sacrifice, but we are in a terrible situation. No official is helping us. I have been living here for two years. I even considered moving just because of this reason.’
