The road from Şarkışla to Europe with Wushu
Since 2005, wushu coach Şengül Şahin, who has been involved in wushu sport, said, “We have numerous Turkish, European, and Balkan championships as a district. We have a total of nearly 400 medals. There is a high interest in wushu sport in the district. Despite being challenging, we try to do our best with the athletes. Children stay away from bad habits, love sports, and win gold medals through this. All the athletes we train here are champions. This is a road from Şarkışla to Europe,” she said.

17-year-old wushu athlete Nisanur Güvenç also stated, “The name of this sport is wushu, it is known as the ancient sport of China, a defense and martial art. I have been interested in this sport for about 9 years. It is really enjoyable. Our ambition increases as we practice, and our self-confidence grows against competitions. I do not know the exact number, but I have more than 10 Turkish championships. I also have a European runner-up title.”
