Dip çamuru temizliği ÇEVREFEST made a big impact
Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality’s Izmit Gulf Bottom Mud Cleaning Project received great attention at the CEVREFEST event held in Ankara. Organized by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, the event took place at Ankara Capital City National Garden during the ‘Turkey Environmental Week’.

Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality’s Izmit Gulf Sludge Cleaning Project received great attention at the ENVIRONMENTFEST event held in Ankara. The Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and Climate Change organized the ‘Turkey Environment Week’ activities (ENVIRONMENTFEST) at Ankara Capital National Garden. Within the scope of the event, Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Environmental Protection and Control Department, ISU General Directorate, and IZAYDAS General Directorate opened a booth to increase environmental awareness, create awareness, and introduce good practices in environmental management. The Izmit Gulf Sludge Cleaning Project, which sets an example for Turkey, was one of the most prominent projects at the event. Information about Turkey’s largest environmental project, the ‘Sludge Cleaning Project,’ was provided at the booth set up by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality. A voice book printed to raise awareness of zero waste for preschool and special individuals, emphasizing environmentally friendly approaches and recycling, was introduced. In addition, participants experienced the ‘Waste Separation Game’ and ‘Interactive Zero Waste Film’ prepared with virtual reality technology using VR glasses. During the festival, information was provided about advanced biological treatment plants, water conservation, and recycled water projects, waste disposal methods, treatment systems, energy management efforts, environmental and public health. The Minister showed interest in the project. At the largest and most widely participated environmental event in Turkey, ENVIRONMENTFEST, Minister of Environment and Urbanization and Climate Change Mehmet Ozhaseki, AK Party Kocaeli Deputy Cemil Yaman, deputies, bureaucrats of ministries and municipalities, and environmental enthusiasts were hosted at Kocaeli’s booth, and the presented projects received great interest. Kocaeli’s sweetest surprise at the festival was its local delicacies. The team serving Kocaeli’s famous ‘pişmaniye’ at the booth left an unforgettable taste in the participants’ mouths. With both their flavors and environmentally friendly approaches, the Kocaeli team carved out a distinctive place at the festival. The Kocaeli booth, which remained open for 4 days during the festival, received great admiration from visitors and played an important role in increasing environmental awareness. Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality contributed to the steps taken for a sustainable future by promoting its environmental efforts and innovative projects.
