DÜZCE (İHA) – Düzce Health Director Dr. Yasin Yılmaz provided recommendations on healthy eating during the Eid al-Adha (Sacrifice Feast).
Dr. Yasin Yılmaz emphasized the importance of hygiene and health conditions during the Eid al-Adha, where meat consumption increases, especially for individuals with obesity, high blood pressure, cardiovascular diseases, stomach issues, and diabetes.
Yılmaz highlighted that during the Eid al-Adha, attention should be paid to healthy eating principles, food choices, portion control, and balanced distribution of food groups.
“Rest the meat”
Dr. Yasin Yılmaz pointed out the importance of resting the meat for 24 hours, mentioning the amount of meat that can be consumed daily according to the Turkish Dietary Guidelines, and the nutritional content of red meat.
Yılmaz also emphasized the need for everyone to take precautions during Eid al-Adha, reminding that healthy eating habits, food selection, portion control, and balanced distribution of food groups should be carefully followed.
Regarding animal sacrifices, Yılmaz stressed the importance of adhering to necessary religious and environmental conditions, hygiene, health, environmental health, cleanliness, meat processing, cooking, consumption, and the importance of informing the public.
Yasin Yılmaz warned about the risks of injuries that may occur due to escaping animals during the sacrifice and advised seeking medical help for any injuries instead of trying to self-treat at home.
“Be cautious with treats”
Yılmaz also advised caution with persistent treats during Eid al-Adha, emphasized the importance of healthy and balanced nutrition, and highlighted the significance of daily water consumption and engaging in physical activities such as walking to ease the digestive system.
Dr. Yılmaz concluded by stating that necessary precautions have been taken in hospitals to ensure the public’s health during the Eid al-Adha and extended his warm wishes for a healthy and joyful holiday season for the residents of Düzce, healthcare workers, and all citizens.
