Tourism professionals are also warning holidaymakers about fake holiday websites.
While the summer season continues to be busy in Marmaris, one of the most popular holiday destinations in the world and in Turkey, tourism professionals are also waiting for holidaymakers for the upcoming Eid al-Adha. Tourism professionals have also warned holidaymakers about fake holiday websites.
As the Eid al-Adha holiday in Marmaris, one of the most preferred tourism cities by both domestic and foreign tourists, extends to 9 days, the district has started to experience a surge in visitors. Mutlu Ayhan, the President of the Marmaris Chamber of Commerce (MTO), stated that with the Eid al-Adha holiday extending to 9 days, reservations for the holiday season have started to increase. Ayhan also mentioned that the entire city is ready for a bustling holiday season until the end of October.
Regarding the visa application at the border, especially for crossings from Marmaris to the Greek islands, President Ayhan commented that it is too early to make a judgment. He stated that time will show whether visitors spending a day in the Greek islands and the rest of the holiday in Marmaris is positive for the region or not.
President Ayhan also emphasized that the event season is ongoing in Marmaris, mentioning the Marmaris Culture and Art Festival running until June 30. Various activities, discussions, concerts, and competitions will be organized as part of the festival. He invited everyone, especially art enthusiasts, to spend their holidays in Marmaris and attend the world concert featuring artists such as Fazıl Say, Serenad Bağcan, and Yekta Kopan on June 22 at the Amphi Theater.
“Holiday season will be a lifeline for tourism businesses”
Mehmet Ayyıldız, the President of the Marmaris Chamber of Craftsmen and Artisans, expressed that the extension of the Eid al-Adha holiday is like a lifeline for businesses in the tourism region. He mentioned that local businesses are eagerly waiting for holidaymakers who choose the region for the holiday season.
Ayyıldız also addressed holidaying in the Greek islands, stating that as tourism professionals, they aim to change the perception. He highlighted that the price of a holiday in Turkey is related to the quality of service received, and they do not believe that holiday prices in Turkey are significantly higher than in other countries.
“Beware of fake websites”
Mehmet Biçer, the operator of a five-star hotel, noted the increasing activity before the Eid al-Adha holiday. He warned about fake holiday websites, stating that they are unfortunately one of the biggest problems in tourism. He advised guests to contact hotels through real and reputable agencies to protect themselves. Biçer also mentioned the lack of strict laws preventing the establishment of such fake websites.
Anıl Demirkol, a tourism professional working in Marmaris, stated that preparations have been completed to welcome visitors during the Eid al-Adha and summer holidays, inviting everyone to Marmaris for a vacation.
