Adana Governor Yavuz Selim Köşger said, ‘One of the chronic problems in Adana is unfortunately our children who do not know how to swim entering the canals. We want parents to take their children to safer pools and seas to teach them how to swim and prevent their children from entering the canals.’ Governor Yavuz Selim Köşger met with students at Edebali Primary School in the Çukurova district during the report card ceremony. Chatting with primary school students and giving out report cards, Governor Köşger advised students to rest a lot and read books during the holiday. He also warned parents to choose seas and pools for their children to learn to swim in a safe environment. In Adana, 520 thousand students received their report cards. Governor Köşger, stating that a successful education period has passed in Adana where 520 thousand students in primary, middle, and high schools received their report cards, said, ‘With the heat, the holiday has also begun. Today, 520 thousand students in primary, middle, and high schools receive their report cards. It was a very successful education year. We shared their happiness by distributing report cards to our students. A bright youth and generation are coming up. We are hopeful for Adana and our country. In Adana, the awareness of education among our families is very high. In this sense, I hope that the future generations will take our country to much better places as a result of the importance given to education and training, not only in Adana but throughout Turkey.’ Köşger, who also gave advice to students to rest and read books during the holiday, said, ‘During the holiday, we request first and foremost that our students rest, continue to read books and engage in beneficial activities while resting. At the same time, one of the chronic problems in Adana is unfortunately our children who do not know how to swim entering the canals. We are taking all necessary precautions. The security forces patrol the canal banks, and the State Hydraulic Works have taken all physical precautions. However, despite this, we have had a few casualties at the beginning of the season. Therefore, we are saddened. We want parents to take their children to safer pools and seas to teach them how to swim and prevent their children from entering the canals.’ In Adana, mostly children, since January, 13 people have drowned, and in the last two and a half weeks alone, 7 people have lost their lives by drowning.
