Concert of ‘Summer Melodies’ by retirees in Mersin

The ‘Voices from the Heart Choir’, formed by the members of the Retirement Home under the Social Services Department of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality, provided an enjoyable evening for music lovers with its concert ‘Summer Melodies in Mersin’.

Retirement Homes, which provide services for retirees to enjoy their second spring more beautifully and qualitatively, continue their activities. The ‘Voices from the Heart Choir’, composed of members of the Retirement Home, is one of these activities. Supported by artists working under the Department of Culture and Social Affairs, the choir, through its concerts, not only enjoys themselves but also ensures that the audience has a pleasant time. The choir’s latest concert took place at the Mezitli Cultural Center with the ‘Summer Melodies in Mersin’ concert, where participants experienced a music-filled evening. The choir performed Turkish Classical Music pieces, and the audience joined in singing along. Music lovers left the evening satisfied.

‘It was a magnificent concert’
Mayor of Toroslar, Abdurrahman Yıldız, who attended the concert, said, ‘It was a very magnificent night, a magnificent concert. It is admirable that a choir made up of volunteers has put in so much effort. I thank all the team who worked on this under the leadership of our Metropolitan Mayor. It was a beautiful night.’

‘Our hearts were filled with beauty and flowers’
Engin Yıldırım, the Head of the Social Services Department, expressed that the concert went very well, stating, ‘At a time when negative events are being discussed in our country and the world, the rust in our ears was wiped away. Our hearts were filled with beauty and flowers. I thank our choir and the artists of the Metropolitan Municipality for this.’

‘There was a great audience, a great atmosphere’
Zeynep Özel, a soloist at the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Conservatory and the Choir Conductor of the Retirement Home, stated that they had a great concert with the choir consisting of Retirement Home members. Mentioning that their goal is to ensure that retirees can have a good and quality time, staying away from the daily troubles of life, Özel said, ‘Our night was very nice. Our choir is already very good, very beautiful. Our instruments were our friends from the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Conservatory. They accompanied us in all the songs. There was a great audience, a great atmosphere. Applause motivates us as always. We are very pleased.’ Expressing that retirees were extremely satisfied with the event, which also made her happy, Özel added, ‘Because I see this as a hobby that I do with passion, not as a job. Our saz artists, chorus members, and I came together with our retirees in a common beautiful feeling.’
