Call for the establishment of a Research Institute in Aydin
Retired Governor Kayhan Kavas, the grandson of Yoruk Ali Efe, who spoke at the panel, said, ‘Today we celebrated the Malgac Raid, which was the first organized and systematic attack of the War of Independence 105 years ago. We remembered the heroes of that period. We paid our respects. We prayed for the souls of our veterans, especially my grandfather, and all our martyrs. We made efforts to introduce and tell our youth about these important figures. It was a beautiful day. Such commemorations help us refresh our memories. Indeed, I also had an emotional day today. It is not enough to just talk about these, to limit them to meetings. I especially want the establishment of a research center and Research Institute related to National Forces in Aydin, which is the cradle of the National Forces. In this sense, I call on all public institutions, civilian professional organizations, individuals, universities in Aydin. Because these people, who have devoted their future solely to this country, fought only for this country’s happiness and prosperity without any expectations, without pursuing any interests. I think that it is very important to have a center or institute for conducting research, publishing books, organizing panels, and introducing them to young people. In this sense, I want to call on the people of Aydin.’

The speakers at the panel provided important information about the period when the sparks of the national struggle were ignited. It was stated that the foundations of the War of Independence began from east to west after the call of Mustafa Kemal following his landing in Samsun, and the first organized uprising took place in Aydin.
