Yusuf Yazıcı: “We want to enter the championship very prepared and lively.”

National football player Yusuf Yazıcı stated that they want to enter the 2024 UEFA European Football Championship ready and in good shape.

The national football team is continuing its preparations for the 2024 UEFA European Football Championship (EURO 2024) to be held in Germany in the town of Barsinghausen. Prior to today’s training session, national footballer Yusuf Yazıcı answered questions from the press.

Yazıcı, who said that everything is going well, expressed his gratitude to the federation in front of the press, stating, ‘We would like to thank our federation in front of you, they have arranged very nice facilities for us. Everything is very good in every aspect. We are also working very well. The European Championship is approaching very soon. We are doing the final training sessions, tactics, and trials. We want to enter the championship very prepared and in good shape.’

Speaking about the first match in the group against Georgia, the 27-year-old footballer said, ‘The first matches in the championship are very important. As they say, how you start determines how you continue, so the first match is very important. We think it is a very important match for our motivation and also to advance from the group. We are training well. Hopefully, we will get the results we aim for.’

Regarding the injured players who have been removed from the squad, Yusuf Yazıcı mentioned, ‘It’s very sad. Because we lost very important players. They were very valuable players for us on paper. Unfortunately, these are things that happen in football. We want to take the field with the players we have in the best possible way and give our best.’

‘Feeling like home’
Emphasizing that they will feel like hosts in Germany, Yazıcı said, ‘We feel like home. Thanks to our people, they are always by our side. Wherever we go, they are always with us. It makes us very happy that Turks live in Germany. Yesterday, we had an open practice for the fans. It makes us very happy to see people excited to watch us.’

Stating that they are ambitious in the tournament, the national footballer concluded his words by saying, ‘I am a competitive player. I always have confidence in myself. We need to set such a goal so that our motivation is high accordingly.’
