In Burhaniye district, as part of the End-of-Year Activities at the Science and Art Center (Bilsem), peer trainings have started. The trainings, supervised by coordinators Banu Küpeli Ürüçoğlu, Hilal Kırbıyık, and Yeşim Güçlü Bilgiç, received great interest. The first training session began with 46 students from Faruk Kızıklı and Mehmet Akif Ersoy Primary School. The students conducted activities such as using a microscope, making cell cakes, studying tissues, and drawing cell diagrams. The prepared cell cakes were served to the students, who expressed their happiness. Bilsem Director Fatih Taşdemir, who thanked the teachers and students participating in the trainings, announced that the trainings will continue throughout the summer. Ibrahim Erkap, who shared his happiness about participating in the event, said, ‘We had a very nice activity here. We made a cake. We ate the cake. We drew very nice pictures. We looked at bee wings and living things.’ Azra Bulut also stated, ‘Beautiful activities are being carried out here. We made cakes together and drew pictures. This place is very nice.’ Öykü Üstün mentioned, ‘We made a cell cake. We learned about the cells there. We transferred the cells we saw through the stethoscope onto paper as tissue.’ Uraz Kağan Kahya, a Bilsem student, said, ‘I am a Bilsem student. I was the team captain in the peer training held for the first time at Bilsem. I was the team leader. Today, we made cell cakes for my peers. In the end, we served the cake. It was a perfect experience for me. It was great.’ School Principal Fatih Taşdemir added, ‘The purpose of this activity is to introduce our school to students who are not familiar with Science and Art Centers, to show them the opportunities here, and to engage them in activities with our materials. It aims to facilitate better interaction among students through peer education. We plan to continue these activities traditionally in the future. We also thank the teachers and students who contributed to the activity. By the way, Science and Art Centers will continue with summer courses throughout the summer vacation.’
