Abdullah Gül University (AGU) once again proved its prestige among world universities. In the 2024 Social Impact Rankings announced by Times Higher Education (THE), one of the most prestigious higher education ranking institutions in the world, AGU achieved great success by entering the top 200 universities in the world. Among the universities from Turkey that entered the top 200 are ITU, METU, AGU, and Yildiz Technical universities.
This year, at the Global Sustainable Development Congress held in Bangkok, Thailand, a ranking was announced with 2,152 universities from 112 countries.
In the evaluation considering the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), AGU demonstrated great success by ranking in the 101-200 range among all universities in the world. AGU ranked third in Turkey after ITU and METU, while Yildiz Technical University also ranked in the 101-200 range. Bahcesehir, Hacettepe, Ozyegin, and Selcuk universities were listed in the 201-300 range.
Through numerous events and projects aimed at contributing to society, AGU achieved success in different categories. In the ‘No Poverty’ category, it ranked 5th, in the ‘Climate Action’ category, 7th, in the ‘Quality Education’ category, 9th, in the ‘Sustainable Cities and Communities’ category, 35th, in the ‘Affordable and Clean Energy’ category, 48th, in the ‘Responsible Production and Consumption’ category, 52nd, in the ‘Clean Water and Sanitation’ category, 63rd, in the ‘Terrestrial Life’ category, 75th, and in the ‘Life Below Water’ category, 91st, AGU managed to enter the top 100 in a total of 9 different categories.
AGU also ranked 18th on the 2024 WURI World Innovative Universities list announced at a ceremony held at Franklin University in Lugano, Switzerland, organized by the Hansa Universities Union, becoming the only university from Turkey to enter the list, achieving two international successes in the last week.
Rector Prof. Dr. Cengiz Yilmaz expressed great satisfaction with AGU ranking at the top in the lists announced by Times and WURI, which are among the most respected higher education ranking institutions in the world, measuring the real contributions of universities to society, within the past week. He stated, “These successes of our university are the most important indicators of the contributions AGU makes to society and its excellence in education.”
Rector Yilmaz stated that they aim to sustain these successes steadily with new projects that contribute to society.
