Near East University is among the top 400 most influential universities in the world

Near East University ranked in the 301-400 band among the most influential universities in the world in the ‘2024 World University Impact Rankings’ by Times Higher Education, which evaluates universities from 125 countries. With this result, it secured the 5th place in Turkey.

Near East University ranked between 301-400 among the world’s most influential universities in the ‘2024 World University Impact Rankings’ by Times Higher Education, which evaluates universities from 125 countries. With this result, the University, which shares the 5th place in Turkey, was shown as the most influential university in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

One of the most important ranking organizations in higher education worldwide, London-based Times Higher Education, announced the ‘2024 World University Impact Rankings’. The contributions of world universities to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were evaluated through research.

Near East University was placed in the 301-400 range among the world’s most effective universities in the ‘2024 World University Impact Rankings’ by Times Higher Education, which evaluates universities from 125 countries. Additionally, ranking 38th globally in education quality, Near East University ranked in the top 200 globally in the categories of ‘Sustainable Cities and Communities’ and ‘Partnerships for the Goals’; in the top 300 in the ‘Gender Equality’ category; and in the top 400 globally in the ‘Health and Well-being’ category.

Ranked 38th globally in education quality
In the ranking of the world’s best universities under 50 years old published by Times Higher Education last month, Near East University, ranked 139th globally, improved its position in education quality by eight steps compared to the previous year, reaching 38th place in the ‘2024 World University Impact Rankings’ announced by the same institution today. Near East University ranked in the top 200 globally in the ‘Sustainable Cities and Communities’ category and ‘Partnerships for the Goals’ category, which evaluates national and international collaborations.

With a female employee ratio of 62% in administrative and academic fields, Near East University ranked among the top 300 universities globally in the ‘Gender Equality’ category, and also ranked in the top 400 globally in the ‘Health and Well-being’ category.

Commenting on the inclusion of the University among the top 400 most effective universities in the world, Prof. Dr. Irfan Suat Günsel, the Chairman of the Near East Holdings Board of Trustees, said, ‘Taking responsibility to build a sustainable world and future is one of the primary responsibilities of universities.’ Prof. Dr. Irfan Suat Günsel also stated that Near East University made a significant rise compared to the previous year in the ‘2024 World University Impact Rankings’ announced by Times Higher Education today and added, ‘Near East University continues its path with the vision of leading social progress in the fields of science, technology, and culture and arts by deriving its strength from scientific productivity.’

‘As Near East University, we will always prioritize quality in education and continue to increase our contributions to sustainable development goals,’ said Prof. Dr. Irfan Suat Günsel, thanking all the components of Near East University for their contributions to this success.

The world’s 139th youngest university
Recalling that their university was recently identified by Times Higher Education as the 139th youngest university in the world, Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ, the Rector of Near East University, stated, ‘Our place in the World Young Universities Ranking demonstrates our scientific productivity, while our place in the ‘2024 World University Impact Rankings’ announced today is a reflection of the social role we undertake for a sustainable future and world.’

‘Success is the result of the collective effort and dedication of the Near East University family,’ said Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ, adding, ‘The position our university has achieved in this important research imposes greater responsibilities on us and motivates us to achieve even greater successes in the future.’
