Various activities are organized for children to experience a safe and healthy childhood through Children’s Activities. Informative brochures are distributed to reach all segments of society, thus promoting awareness and action against child labor. Combatting Child Labor in Seasonal Agriculture involves working to combat child labor in seasonal agricultural labor and supporting children to grow up in a safe and healthy environment. The statement made by the Department of Women and Family Services Directorate of Adana Metropolitan Municipality regarding the issue is as follows: “We are working together to protect children’s rights and ensure a safe future for them. Child labor remains a major problem worldwide, violating the rights of millions of children. The Children Services Branch Directorate, affiliated with the Department of Women and Family Services Directorate of Adana Metropolitan Municipality, will continue to increase its efforts to overcome this problem and aim to realize a world vision where children can only dream and there is no child labor. Ensuring the safety and happiness of children and securing their future is our top priority. June 12th is World Day Against Child Labor, declared by the International Labour Organization in 2002 to raise awareness about child labor. Child labor leads to children not being able to fully experience their childhood, being deprived of education, and negatively affecting their physical and mental development. World Day Against Child Labor aims to raise awareness about child labor worldwide and to combat this issue. According to information compiled by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) on World Day Against Child Labor on June 12th, there are approximately 160 million child laborers worldwide. These children are usually deprived of their childhood by working in dangerous and low-paid jobs. In Turkey, efforts have been made to combat child labor since 1992 and a consistent effort is being made in this regard. However, according to TURKSTAT data, more than 700 thousand child laborers are involved in economic activities in Turkey. This indicates the need for more efforts to combat child labor. Progress in combating child labor and protecting children’s rights requires all segments of society to come together and make joint efforts. In order to secure the future of children, there needs to be a determined effort to end child labor.
