As part of the ‘Accessible University Flag and Medal Awards’ given annually by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), Yaşar University, Faculty of Law, and Department of Music in the Faculty of Arts and Design have been deemed worthy of the ‘Accessible Program of the Year 2024’ medal. The Council of Higher Education awards the ‘Accessible University Flag and Medal Awards’ every year under the titles of ‘Accessibility in Education’, ‘Accessibility in Space’, ‘Socio-cultural Accessibility’, and ‘Accessible Program’ with the aim of ensuring equal opportunities in education at all levels. Yaşar University, which has been one of the universities receiving the most awards within the scope of the ‘Accessible University Flag and Medal Awards’ since its first year in 2018, was also awarded the ‘Accessibility in Space (Orange Flag)’ award for eight academic units in 2023. Continuing its tradition, this year, it has earned the Accessible Program Medals for the Faculty of Law and the Department of Music in the Faculty of Arts and Design. Accessibility is at the forefront in every aspect of education. Yaşar University Rector Prof. Dr. Levent Kandiller stated, ‘Since the establishment of our university, we have been making improvements to ensure the accessibility of our students with special needs in terms of spatial, educational, and socio-cultural activities they may need during their education and training processes. For each of our students, we determine individual-based reasonable adjustments from the date of their first registration at our university, follow up until their graduation, and make improvements. In this regard, in 2018, the first year when the Council of Higher Education Accessible University Flag and Medal Awards were given, we were the university that received the most awards with a total of 14 flags in the ‘Accessibility in Space’ and ‘Accessibility in Education’ categories. In the following years, in addition to the awards we received in different academic units and categories, this year we added our ‘accessible program medal’ awards in two of our programs, Law and Music.’
