Aronya loves Erzincan

In recent years, aronia, which has found its place in the Erzincan product pattern, has become fond of Erzincan. The aronia fruit, which has countless benefits, is becoming increasingly popular in Turkey. Known for its cancer preventive effect, aronia fruit is being used as a supplement alongside the treatment of coronavirus in many countries due to its ability to boost immunity and accelerate the treatment of infections. Aronia, which has found its place in Erzincan’s agricultural product pattern, is successfully cultivated in Erzincan.

The aronia fruit, whose real name is Chokeberry, is also called a ‘super fruit.’ Aronia, which is a rich source of Vitamin C and antioxidants, is also known to be very rich in minerals and fiber, and is considered one of the fruits with the highest antioxidant content among cultivated fruits. The production of aronia, which strengthens the immune system and increases the body’s resistance to colds and flu-like infections, has started in Erzincan and is expected to spread widely in the region in a short time.

Supported by the Expert Hands Project of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Agricultural Engineer Esra Cahyir Evrensel carries out aronia production on a 10-decare area. The Agricultural Production and Plant Health Branch Directorate of the Erzincan Agriculture and Forestry Provincial Directorate conducted inspections in the aronia cultivated areas.

While Erzincan provides suitable conditions for aronia, whose market share is increasing in the world and Turkey, it is stated that the cultivation areas of this fruit, which falls into the category of medicinal and aromatic plants, will continue to increase. Aronia, expected to be harvested at the end of August, is particularly popular among young producers.

Technical teams inspecting the aronia orchard found that everything was going well in the orchard, and they expect Evrensel, who successfully manages the cultural practices, to achieve a good yield level at the end of the season.
