Providing an assessment on the subject, GAUN Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ayse Balat expressed that the priority goal of the Health Sciences Institute established within GAUN in 1988 is to organize, conduct, and supervise postgraduate education in the field of health sciences. Prof. Dr. Balat emphasized that within this scope, the institute aims to contribute to Turkey’s qualified human resources in the health field and add value to the world literature through scientific studies by establishing an education infrastructure in line with international standards. Prof. Dr. Balat pointed out the importance of the institute’s works to become a recognized institution internationally by creating a significant impact both in the academic and practical fields in line with this mission. Mentioning that the institute started admitting students as of the 1990-1991 academic year, Institute Director Associate Professor Dr. Davut Sinan Kaplan stated, ‘The institute offers postgraduate programs within the main branches affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Dentistry, and Faculty of Sports Sciences. With 15 active doctoral programs in 13 main branches and 28 active master’s programs in 21 main branches, the growing institute continues its development in terms of both the number of students and program diversity day by day. Our institute has aimed not only to improve itself in terms of numerical data but also in terms of quality and has completed its preparations for YOK accreditation processes between 2021-2024.’ Responsible for Quality and Accreditation in the Institute, Associate Professor Dr. Gezici emphasized that as the Health Sciences Institute, they set out with the slogan ‘Together hand in hand for a third-generation university that values quality and focuses on institutionalization.’ Dr. Gezici highlighted that according to the recent Institution Internal Evaluation Quality Report, it was examined under 46 headings and received the highest score in 35 headings. This success will enable the institute to complete the necessary institutional structuring required by quality assurance systems and apply for YOK Accreditation. During this process, we thank our valuable teaching staff, academic and administrative staff, without withholding their support, especially our Rector Prof. Dr. Arif Ozaydin and Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ayse Balat.
