AK Party Corum deputy Yusuf Ahlatcı announced that with the investments made in the health sector, Corum will become a shining star in health in the region. The Oncology Diagnosis and Treatment Center, which started accepting patients last year by the Ministry of Health, serves not only Corum but also the surrounding provinces such as Amasya, Tokat, Kastamonu, Yozgat, and Cankiri. With the opening of the center consisting of chemotherapy, PET, nuclear medicine, iodine therapy, and ‘Linac treatment’ sections, out-of-town referrals have been prevented.
Visit to the Oncology Diagnosis and Treatment Center by Ahlatcı
Corum deputy Yusuf Ahlatcı, Deputy Director of Health Arif Pirgil, and the Chief Physician of Erol Olcok Training and Research Hospital, Prof. Dr. Sinan Zehir, visited the Oncology Diagnosis and Treatment Center. Ahlatcı, who met with the patients at the center during the visit, conveyed his get-well wishes.
Ahlatcı explained that the Oncology Diagnosis and Treatment Center, which operates within the Erol Olcok Training and Research Hospital, was completed in two stages due to its specialized structure. He stated, ‘In the first stage, a specialized area where the LINAC device will be used was built by the Provincial Special Administration through a tender with a cost of 1 million 200 thousand TL. In the second stage, the construction of other sections was planned. The tender was held by the Corum Provincial Special Administration, and a total of 65 million 606 thousand 483 TL was spent. Our center, whose temporary acceptance was completed on February 1, 2023, includes 1 linear accelerator area (radiotherapy), 4-area chemotherapy room, 2 SPECT imaging areas and treatment areas, 1 PET/CT imaging area and treatment areas, 2 bedded radioactive treatment units, oncology, radiation oncology, hematology clinics, nuclear medicine clinics, and social facilities.’
All units of the center started operating on March 11
Ahlatcı explained that all units of the Oncology Diagnosis and Treatment Center started providing services on March 11. He said, ‘Radiotherapy is applied to 38-40 patients daily with the LINAC device. So far, services have been provided to 1,269 patients. Daily imaging is performed for 10 patients with the PET/CT device. So far, 617 imaging sessions have been conducted. In addition, the center has reached 11,887 chemotherapy sessions, 910 radiotherapy sessions, and 11,000 scintigraphy imaging sessions. Looking at the health services provided here, it is evident how important this center we have brought to Corum is for our region. Apart from Samsun and Ankara, there is no such facility in the region. I thank our President, Minister of Health, and all the healthcare personnel who worked diligently here, as well as all the patients receiving treatment here. We take pride in bringing such works to our homeland. We are doing work politics. We are proud of bringing such works to our country. No need to talk. Let’s do our job. We are determined to make our country prosperous by working. Additionally, the physical construction of our dental hospital is completed, and the furnishing is in progress. It will open in the summer. Our opposition deputy also visits these places from time to time. This makes us proud. It means that we are providing services that are also appreciated by the opposition. I advise him not to forget to thank our President when he visits places.’
